Electrical Engineer 

CAD Zuken E3 Us Citizen, Secret clearance preferred.

3 year contract assignment, 40 hours weekly

Candidates must be enthusiastic, innovative and motivated self-starters able to work independently, or with an interdisciplinary group, to achieve program requirements. They must possess strong oral and written communications skills, and must be able to present findings/results to internal and external organizations. If applicable, a bibliography of technical writings, patents, etc., should be included with the candidate's resume

-This person must be able to be onsite every day from the beginning of the assignment because of the need to interact with hardware in person. Some flexibility to work 1 or 2 days remote once the person is settled in. If the person is not currently local, they would need to fully relocate at the start of the assignment.

-Preference for someone with an active clearance, but a candidate that is clearable and can get the interim to start is good as well.

Designs, develops, and tests electrical devices and equipment, including communications systems, power generators, motors and navigation systems, and electrical systems for automobiles and aircraft. Oversees the manufacturing of these devices, systems, and equipment. Designs new ways to use electrical power to develop or improve products. Performs detailed calculations to develop manufacturing, construction, and installation standards and specifications. Directs manufacturing, installing, and testing of electrical equipment to ensure that products meet specifications and codes. Investigates complaints from customers or the public, evaluate problems, and recommend solutions. Works with project managers on production efforts to ensure that projects are completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budget. Designs electronic components, software, products, or systems for commercial, industrial, medical, military, or scientific applications. Analyzes customer needs and determine electrical system requirements, capacity, and cost to develop a system plan. Develops maintenance and testing procedures for electronic components and equipment. Evaluates systems and recommend design modifications or equipment repair. Inspects electronic equipment, instruments, and systems to make sure they meet safety standards and applicable regulations. Plans and develops applications and modifications for electronic properties used in parts and systems to improve technical performance.

The Rapid Prototyping Group seeks an experienced cable engineer with a background in EE, selection of cable components, wiring diagrams and cable fabrication processes. This engineer will work on a variety of short duration (6-18 month) projects to provide complex and innovative solutions for a number of sensor systems. This engineer must be capable of working well in teams consisting of Subject Matter Experts across many different fields.

ob Responsibilities:
-Design system and unit level electrical interconnection and power distribution schemes in collaboration with project teams
-Perform basic design calculations, select appropriate components and hardware
-Prepare design concepts, block diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, cable/harness fabrication drawings utilizing 2D and 3D CAD (Computer Aided Design) software
-Support parts identification, procurement, fabrication and system level integration
-Ability to design cable assemblies with due consideration for cable shielding, impedance matching, power handling, complemented with the appropriate use of Mil-spec and standard connectors for various devices.

Required Skills:
-- Software/applications:2D and 3D CAD Software (preferably SolidWorks), Cable design software (Zuken E3 or other).
-- Knowledge of electronic design for aerospace applications, including connector selection, wire types/sizes/derating, voltage drops, electro-mechanical packaging, electrical fabrication & assembly techniques
-- Knowledge of ASME & IEE Standards for selection of hardware interconnects
-- Specifying, developing, and verifying models and simulations

Preferred Skills:
-- Strongly preferred to have experience with PCB Board design
-- Prior experience with Zuken would be highly preferred
-- Experience with complex cable design would be preferable
-- Any experience in the aerospace or military industry with applicable knowledge of cable design aerospace and military design standards
-- Experience with cable/interconnect configuration management.
-- Knowledge of Product Data Management (PDM) or Produce Lifecycle Management (PLM) software
-- Hands-on experience with the development and testing of aerospace sensor systems.

Looking for a minimum of 5+ years of experience. Prefer someone 10+ years.
