Embedded Software- Engineer

Contract 3 years, 40 hours weekly
US Citizen with Secret Clearance

Candidates will be required to be onsite 3-4 days per week, with some flex to be remote 1-2 days. Any non-local candidate must be committed to relocating for the start of the project.

Candidates MUST have a current active secret clearance for this position. HUGE preference for someone with a current top secret. Candidates who have a secret clearance will need to be able to obtain Top Secret soon after the position begins.

Most critical skills is the C/C++ and python development.

Description:
Designs and implements software of embedded devices and systems from requirements to production and commercial deployment for product lines. Designs, develops, codes, tests and debugs system software. Involved in specifications, design and development of embedded firmware in engineering projects. Analyzes and enhances efficiency, stability and scalability of system resources. Integrates and validates new product designs. Supports software QA. Provides post production support. Interfaces with hardware design and development. Experience in embedded systems development. Experience in hands-on development and troubleshooting on embedded targets. Solid programming experience in C or C++. Proven experience in embedded systems design with preemptive, multitasking real-time operating systems. Knowledge of reading schematics and data sheets for components. Strong documentation and writing skills.

The Advanced Lasercom Systems and Operations Group develops, builds, and operates prototype space and airborne lasercom terminals. The technology developed and the lessons learned from these activities are transferred to operational programs through participation in standard groups and through the operation of a gold-standard test infrastructure. Major efforts include demonstration of a low-cost, high performance, prototype airborne lasercom terminals, designed for the lasercom interoperability standards, development of a test capability to validate inoperability among various contractor-produced terminals, and investigation into techniques to enable multiple simultaneous lasercom links through a single aperture.

Candidate must possess good communications skills: willingness to listen to the needs of engineers and the ability to articulate solutions to engineers in other disciplines who possess little understanding of embedded software systems.
? Must be able to work on a broad range on problems. Experience developing software for communication systems through the complete life-cycle from requirements analysis, design, implementation, integration and support is highly desired.
? C/C++ and Java software development in a UNIX-based environment; experience with principles of communication.
? Experience in algorithm development, processing large datasets, distributed systems and test automation are pluses. Experience in Matlab, shell scripting, Python and HTML are also pluses.
