Contract 3+ years 40 hours weekly

Description:

Installs, operates, maintains, repairs and modifies equipment. Performs a variety of maintenance and technical support on products such as equipment, integrated systems and subsystems, and software at customer and/or field locations. Analyzes and evaluates products and related performance. Troubleshoots and diagnoses malfunctions to eliminate problem in minimum time. Installs, upgrades and removes products ensuring coordinative engineering field change. Maintains effective customer communications, relations, and provides onsite training.

The Control and Autonomous Systems Engineering Group is focused on the synthesis of dynamic and complex control and autonomous systems, from concept to realization, for a wide variety of novel prototypes. Work with multi-disciplinary teams to envision and create complex demonstration prototypes (primarily unmanned) and innovative solutions to challenging national security problems.

This position is multidisciplinary and requires the ability to work with the current lab manager to maintain and improve infrastructure and robotic systems to support a vast array of R&D efforts involving land, air, and maritime systems. R&D efforts are brought from an idea to a functional fielded prototype with our support throughout the design and test cycle of robotics systems.

Required:
-Graduation from a two-year technical school in Electro/Mechanical/Robotic/Software design from an accredited technical institute or its equivalent or 5+ years of directly related experience are required.
-Use of Linux operating systems
-Experience with ROS and Python
-Hands-on experience with electronic and computer equipment, software, integration, and testing techniques
-Ability to obtain safety certifications for and operate heavy machinery and work at heights (required certifications will be paid for by the Lab)
-Familiarity with the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and graphical software for recording experimental data
-Experience with software configuration control, GIT version control
-Possessing UAV piloting experience and licensing OR the ability to obtain is required. Please ensure understanding of the process to obtain this licensing

The successful candidate will be well organized, self-driven, creative, detail-oriented, and able to work on multiple tasks simultaneously. This position requires strong interpersonal skills, the ability to grow and maintain relationships across the organization, and be the SME for the AS Laboratories. Must be able to work as part of a team in a fast-paced and growing environment. Excellent written, verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively with other team members including those in a management, technical, administrative, or financial function.

Preferred:
Prior experience with integrated circuit test equipment, device probing, and ESD mitigation techniques is desirable. Knowledge of LabVIEW and C++, plus experience interfacing with sensors and controlling motors is highly desirable. Prior experience with integrated circuit test equipment, device probing, and electronic discharge mitigation techniques is desirable. In-depth knowledge of Linux operating systems and patching is desirable but not required. CAD experience is a plus.
