Lead Mechanical Systems Engineer
12 plus month assignment (potential conversion after 12 months)

Monday - Friday 40 hours per week

Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Other duties may be assigned.

  • Review available materials and coordinate with colleagues to become familiar with work scope, deliverables, technical and manufacturing requirements, key stake holders, budget and delivery schedule for a project.
  • Develop mechanical system architecture, key design components, potential approach(es), and critical specifications to meet total deliverables concept; in collaboration with project mechanical, electrical, and software engineers.
  • Lead mechanical debug and test activity, if needed.
  • Ability to assist with occasional assembly/disassembly of especially sensitive areas of a design, where applicable.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to develop full system concepts, solid models and/or complete & refine conceptual solid models into finished models.
  • Ability to create fabrication & assembly drawings for weldments, machined parts, plumbing, sheet metal, vacuum chambers.
  • Self-directed ability to acquire new skills and knowledge to solve problems and meet the requirements of new industries.
  • Strong knowledge of commonly used mechanical techniques – pneumatic, vacuum, motors and actuators, and mechanisms.
  • Strong knowledge of materials, fabrication practices, finishing methods and procedures.
  • Highly skilled in SolidWorks. Simulation skills desired. Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Unigraphics NX a plus.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite applications – Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint. Visio & basic MS-Project skills a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
  • Familiarity with common industry safety and ergonomic standards requirements – e.g. ASME, CE, SEMI-S2/S8, etc.
  • Knowledge of clean room, high vacuum semiconductor equipment, and design associated requirements strongly desired.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

Education, Certifications and Experience

  • BSME required. MSME or equivalent work experience, or combination of education and experience desired.
  • 10+ years engineering or related work experience required.
