Mechanical Engineer - Stress/Thermal/CFD Analysis

The Mechanical Engineer - Stress/Thermal/CFD Analysis is responsible for all aspects of the mechanical stress, thermal and CFD analysis of the systems. This entails setting up analysis models while paying close attention to defeaturing and boundary conditions, running analyses against the customers requirements, and summarizing results into reports and presentations. Typical engineering analyses required to support the design include stress, modal, vibration, shock, CFD and transient thermal analysis, which could include conduction, convection, and radiation.Qualifications, Technical:
5 years of experience minimum running mechanical and thermal finite element analysis and/or Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
Successful, demonstrated experience performing stress, modal, vibration, shock, transient thermal analysis AND/OR CFD
Experience in the defense and/or aerospace industries, including performing analyses on the following environments:
- captive carry vibration
- high shock
- high temperature
- Experience with performing structural, modal, and thermal analysis using finite element analysis tools: ANSYS highly desired, Pro-E Mechanica and/or Abaqus are a plus.
- STAR-CCM+ for CFD analysis
Experience/familiar with Pro-E for solid modeling.
Ability to quickly assess the technical feasibility of a design or solution based on experience and basic hand calculations.
Familiar/experienced with vibration, shock, and thermal cycling fatigue calculations on electrical components is a plus.
Familiar/experienced with the design, development, qualification, and production of military / aerospace products.
Familiar/experienced with military / aerospace / industrial specification and standards.
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. Advanced technical degree desirable.
