Client is seeking a Mechatronics / Mechanical Engineer in support of Mechatronics & Defectivity. This position is primarily involved with the development of precision motion assemblies, thermal analysis and dynamics of Reticle Handling and Illumination modules. This candidate is involved in deriving requirements, developing concepts, analyzing options and driving decisions.
The main focus of this position will be:
o Develop the mechatronic modules or sub-assemblies when given higher level module or sub-system requirements;
o Derive lower level requirements and designs for mounted optics and mechatronic positioning and measurement devices;
o Generate models or simulations in Advanced Simulation in Matlab and Simulink that analyze expected performance which can be used to drive a multi-discipline team to an optimal solution;
o Prototype testing using XPC Target or equivalent desired;
o Dynamic modelling of Module response to external disturbances;
o Basic knowledge of heat transfer and thermal dynamics desired;
o Knowledge of Robotics and robot controls highly desirable;
o Knowledge of position and presence sensors operation and use highly desirable;
o Experience in design and implementation of servo control systems;
o Minimum travel required (~ 5%) to Europe, Asia, and within the US.
Minimum MS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with an emphasis on mechatronic systems (preferred) / mechanics / dynamics is required. Experience in system design and analysis is required. A second degree in physics, mathematics, or other engineering disciplines is highly desirable.
Five to ten years of industry experience in mechatronics / opto-mechanical development:
o Candidate should have direct experience in the design and test of mechatronic systems preferably in the area of optical element positioning in precision optical equipment;
o Candidate will work in a multi-disciplinary engineering environment, with suppliers and co-developers to ensure timely realization of competitive, high precision, complex components;
o Experience in the following areas are a Plus: CAD, thermal analysis, opto-mechanical mounting, adhesives, materials, FEA, or other modeling tools;
o Have strong written and oral communication skills and a commitment to achieving results on time;
o Be able to identify primary technical needs from complex issues and derive needed requirements;
o Be a demonstrated "team player" with a quality orientation and interpersonal skills;
o Be able to interface with multidisciplinary groups and work effectively in a team and be willing to take on responsibility, follow through and keep multiple simultaneous assignments on schedule;
o Be able to quickly acquire technical knowledge from documentation and on-the-job training and be capable of thoroughly investigating technical issues (analytically and hands-on in a lab or clean room environment);
o Be willing to own the integrated systems performance, and support the entire product life-cycle (development through sustaining engineering).
