Molecular Biologist

Contract 40 hours weekly, 6+ Months

Our client has an immediate opening for an entry-level molecular biologist who thrives in a multidisciplinary environment and enjoys supporting unique, challenging, and high-impact problems using cutting-edge biology tools and technologies.  The candidate will support on-going research in one or more research domains: biomedical devices and diagnostics, synthetic biology, cellular therapy, human organ system, etc.

We are seeking a candidate who is well-versed in molecular biology techniques.  A successful candidate will have a strong work ethic, solid technical background, excellent communication and organizational skills, an attention to detail, and an ability to interact well with others as part of a cohesive team to enable them to thrive in Clients fast-paced and collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities: Execute molecular biology work including sample preparation, analysis, quantification, nucleic acid extraction and extension, qPCR, and sequencing Perform technical work both independently and collaboratively Follow strict methodology to execute experiments and analyses Work closely with senior technical researchers to adapt to changing, diverse project needs Prepare and maintain laboratory reagents, chemicals and instruments Maintain strong laboratory organization and detailed records Organize data results and share with senior technical research leader(s) frequently Maintain sample/reagent inventory in accordance with project procedures

Required Qualifications: BS with 1 or more years of research experience after completion of the degree in biology, molecular biology, cell biology or related field Demonstrated competence and hands-on experience in molecular biology research techniques and methodologies Hands-on Experience performing nucleic acid extractions, DNA extensions, qPCR, and agarose gel electrophoresis Experience with Illumina sequencing sample preparation workflows strongly preferred Demonstrated ability to multitask, work in a dynamic and diverse project environment, and adapt to changing priorities ¿

Required Skills/Abilities/Competencies: Ability to perform multiple technical tasks independently Organizational skills and ability to maintain a detailed laboratory notebook Ability to work independently and as a team member Strong oral and written communication skills Ability to record and analyze data and interpret acceptability of data results High degree of computer literacy and experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
