RF/Microwave Design Engineer

Contract 3 years, 40 hours weekly
Secret Clearance
This role is hands on and requires being in the Lab. It will be predominantly onsite with some flexibility for remote work when the project work allows. Any non local candidates must relocate prior to starting.

Designs, develops, tests radio frequency (RF) and/or microwave systems architecture, components, circuits, or products. Includes antenna design, both reflector and array systems, frequency synthesizers, transmitters and receivers. Participates in electrical design tasks including requirements analysis, specification generation, interface definition, component selection, circuit simulation, schematic capture, and board layout. Participates in simulation, testing and troubleshooting of RF circuits and subsystems. Develops test plans and procedures for RF subsystems. Sub-system circuit design. Participates in required design reviews. Designs or develops radio frequency equipment and products which are used for the testing process of radio frequencies. Oversees and directs the production of the radio frequency devices and components which is to ensure that the design specifications are completely followed. Troubleshoots any problems found in radio frequency testing equipment or circuits. Knowledgeable in system architecture and specifications. Optimizes and analyzes the network and improving its performance if necessary. Ensures that reliability requirements are met in the design: these include E.M.C (electromagnetic compatibility), safety, manufacturability and thermal design aspects.

Client is seeking to hire a RF systems integration engineer that will model, assemble and integrate prototype systems in both benchtop and experimental platforms. These systems need to be designed, instrumented, and tested. The group is developing novel communications systems and is looking to add to the team that will prototype and field test the technologies. Strong experience with RF equipment, RF test equipment, and RF component and system design is required. Occasionally, support for field tests will be needed

The ideal candidate is someone who has significant experience with RF test, setup, instrumentation, and execution of analog/RF systems. An example of the task would be to design a test fixture to test multiple-input, multiple-output (MIMO) systems and mimic the channel response. The candidate should be able to perform RF design, cascade analysis, identify filters, LNAs, parts, etc. to assemble, design the system, and build out the test fixture. Furthermore, the candidate should be able to execute tests with the system, automate the test procedures, and generate and interpret performance results.
