Software Engineer

Contract 3+ years, 40 hours weekly

Work location: Hybrid - Individual works from home or off-site for a portion of their schedule and within a routinely commutable distance from a Laboratory facility.

Clearance: Interim clearance sufficient to start.

Interview process: Initial phone (zoom) screen, if advance to next round, interview with larger technical team.

Education: BS with 10 + years of related experience will be considered. Higher degree preferred.

Description:
Full lifecycle application development. Designing, coding and debugging applications in various software languages. Software analysis, code analysis, requirements analysis, software review, identification of code metrics, system risk analysis, software reliability analysis. Object-oriented Design and Analysis (OOA and OOD). Software modeling and simulation. Front end graphical user interface design. Software testing and quality assurance. Performance tuning, improvement, balancing, usability, automation. Supports, maintains and documents software functionality. Integrates software with existing systems. Evaluates and identifies new technologies for implementation. Maintains standards compliance. Implements localization or globalization of software

The overlap of cyberspace spans enterprise networks to tactically deployed DoD units with IT systems to include RF-enable wireless and Internet of Things (IoT) systems. Client creates and develops software tools to manipulate cyber defensive data & display results in intuitive ways for cyber operators in order to provide cyber situational awareness.

Client is in need of a Software Engineer to support development of software systems that relate to these systems. The software engineer will implement, test and integrate software for cyber situational awareness user tools, instrumentation and testbeds. We are seeking a candidate that also understands cyber incident response of computers using Windows Event Logs and can help us implement, test and integrate our cyber situational awareness tools. This work involves rapid system prototyping in software design, development, demonstration, and field-test evaluation phases of program execution based on innovations from technical staff. Clever employment of existing tools in novel ways, including open source code and commercial-off-the-shelf technologies is encouraged. The successful candidate will work within a multi-disciplinary team to prototype capabilities that provide cyber situational awareness across multiple types of IT systems.

Required skills:
Experience with Android development IDEs, Java and Java Virtual Machine, C/C++, Python, software engineering, but also debugging, demonstrating, and performance testing of software applications in real-world, mobile environments
Experience processing real-time sensors feeds, and Hadoop, Rya, SPARQL and Map Reduce big data applications and architectures
