Software Engineer

Contract Assignment 3+ years, 40 hours weekly

Full lifecycle application development. Designing, coding and debugging applications in various software languages. Software analysis, code analysis, requirements analysis, software review, identification of code metrics, system risk analysis, software reliability analysis. Object-oriented Design and Analysis (OOA and OOD). Software modeling and simulation. Front end graphical user interface design. Software testing and quality assurance. Performance tuning, improvement, balancing, usability, automation. Supports, maintains and documents software functionality. Integrates software with existing systems. Evaluates and identifies new technologies for implementation. Maintains standards compliance. Implements localization or globalization of software

The Advanced Sensor Systems and Test Beds Group supports the Department of Defense (DoD) by designing, developing, and maintaining modern data recording systems.
These systems include high speed, high performance Analog to Digital Converters and COTS computer systems. Group 33 is in need of a software engineer to maintain the existing software and hardware subsystems as well as develop new capability to support future systems.

Skills Required:
- In depth knowledge of C programming applied to device driver development and hardware bringup
- Experience programming on embedded real-time systems running Linux operating system
- Experience with object oriented design and programming
- Familiarity with Linux operating system architectures, distributed systems, and network programming
- Experience with revision control system tools such as Git, as well as GCC compiler and GDB debugger

Skills Preferred:
- Experience with programming/scripting languages such as Python, MATLAB, Julia, and shell scripting
- Experience with digital signal processing and basic radar theory is highly desirable
- Experience with oscilloscopes, signal generators, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers
- Proven ability to quickly and effectively learn new technologies and programming languages, adapt to new environments and methodologies, and work outside one’s own comfort zone
- Posses strong oral and written communication skills and be able to present findings/results to internal and external organizations
- Good organizational skills with the ability to work independently in a team environment
- Desire and ability to participate in field testing which may involve travel
