Sr. Electrical/Electronic Design Engineer

Contract 40 hours weekly M-F Active Security Clearance is Required

We are seeking a senior level electrical design engineer to join the Embedded Electronics group, working out of satellite office in St. Petersburg, Florida. This position requires the ability to develop concepts and proposals for new hardware designs that meet some of the nation's most challenging national security challenges.

The candidate must be able to apply sound engineering fundamentals for the execution of sensor/actuator development projects within the Electronics Division. Members of the Embedded Electronics group support a variety of multi-disciplinary programs lasting an average of 12 to 18 months each.

In addition to working on sponsored programs, group members are also encouraged to develop and participate in internally funded research and development programs. Staff at the St. Petersburg office work closely with the USSOCOM customer to prototype solutions to current problems facing the modern day warfighter. They are expected to work both from the office and at local government facilities, with some remote work opportunities also available. The candidate needs to be a team player, self-directed, and work well in a multidisciplinary environment.

Core Responsibilities: - Concept development and proposal writing - System architecture design - Analog and digital hardware design, development, and testing - Schematic capture, simulation, and PCB layout - Collaboration with software, RF, and other hardware engineers - Full system prototyping and field demonstration

Required Qualifications: - BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering, MS preferred - Active and current US Government security clearance - 7+ years overall experience in mixed-signal electronic design - Motivated self-starter with good interpersonal skills - Outstanding technical capability with strong electrical engineering fundamentals - Experience leading teams of engineers and developing new products/business - Familiarity with embedded Linux - Excellent written and oral communication - Up to 20% travel may be required Additional

Desired Qualifications: -

Experience working with USSOCOM or other government customers - Experience with low power system development and battery management systems - Knowledge of military radios and understanding of RF systems (antennas, modulation, etc) - Understanding of cloud server architectures / IOT device protocols and techniques - Experience with software defined radios (SDRs) - Familiarity with optics and military imagers and camera systems (SWIR, Thermal, etc) - C/C++ embedded programming experience
