SR SYSTEMS ENGINEER
We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer who can significantly contribute to our Client’s existing sensor, communication and ISR systems expertise, including system integration/packaging in support of current and future programs. Will be responsible for the planning of technical design, system integration, cost and risk assessment, and compliance assessment of technological systems.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
Ph.D. or M.S. degree with 7+ years' relevant experience
Experience in securing and executing DOD proposals and contracts is a plus.
Able to travel, as required
About the Role:
The successful Senior Systems Engineer will be responsible for the following job functions:
Perform systems-focused tasks such as steady-state modeling, dynamic modeling, failure mode analysis/troubleshooting, control synthesis, and verification/ validation testing.
Focus on variance resolution utilizing root cause analysis and ensure lesson's learned are captured in process revision and standard work.
Proactively identify patterns in conflicting information and constructively resolve the conflict(s) in a manner that minimizes impact and rework.
Generate subsystem and component requirements from the established high level (parent) requirements within the requirements management software tool.
Determine/Assess product performance against requirements via a compliance matrix.
Ensure all systems work has been validated and thoroughly documented prior to release.
Collaborate with other engineering disciplines as required and appropriate to coordinate systems activities and ensure thorough, accurate documentation of those activities.
Conduct trade studies that compare concepts against one another in a quantifiable manner.
Establish control requirements pertaining to issues such as undershoot, overshoot and settling time.
When quality issues arise in the factory or the field, utilize techniques such as DIVE, Fault Tree, Red X, and Seven Diamonds to isolate root cause, mitigate the issue, and ensure the issue is corrected
Perform high-level design/development of circuitry and firmware for communication, senor, and EW systems to meet customers requirements on both existing and new contracts; Communicate challenges, approaches and results, and support the Program Manager in setting and meeting cost and schedule requirements.
Research industry needs and participate in conferences and workshops to identify and deliver trendsetter ideas within the industry. Work to develop competitive solutions for contract R&D proposals. Develop white papers, demonstrations and proposals to identify, qualify and capture new contract R&D business. Identify customer requirements and define solutions for customers that achieve overall Company goals and objectives.
Maintain knowledge of the state-of-the-art mechanical design of electronic, sensor, communication and ISR systems through participation in professional organizations, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and engaging in educational opportunities.
Technical and Market Qualifications:
Considerable systems understanding, know-how and expertise.
Electrical or Mechanical engineering background
Ability to provide cross-functional guidance and expertise.
Contribute to the team and the department by applying knowledge of one or more functional areas, including Systems Engineering.
Proven track record with solving complex electronic design and performing detailed circuit design.
Firmware / Software experience on various systems and devices.
Experience with embedded, low-power systems for sensor and/or SDR platforms; with electronic warfare sensor systems such as active countermeasures and DRFM systems; and with data acquisition, signal conditioning, power conditioning and communications circuitry.
Technical experience working with the DoD and Defense Prime Contractors.
Strong plusses include: Hands-on experience writing, winning and executing R&D contracts and grants, e.g. BAAs, SBIRs, etc., for DoD and/or other US Government agencies. Experience working with Defense Prime Contractors and DoD SMEs helpful.
